If you saw my stories from yesterday, you know I rolled my left ankle pretty good on a rock at mile 4 of my long run. I gave it a minute, and it felt fine again. It was totally fine all through the run, when I stopped to drive home, when I walked my dog, and for another hour after that. When I did stop moving for a bit, it stiffened up and got pretty tight. I iced and did what I could for it yesterday, but it may need a few more days. Disappointing on the heels of taking 3 days off last week due to a cranky right leg, but s**t happens. Its not the end of the world, and pushing through never works. SO – I have an appointment with my ART doc, and am going to try and see a PT today. Wish me luck & thanks for all the kind words! Here is how last week shook out.
Monday 9/16: 7 miles easy at 9:21 & strength
Tuesday 9/17: 6 miles easy at 9:44. I knew at the end of this run that I needed a few days off. The lower half of my right leg didn’t have pain per say, but the whole thing was just cranky, tight and sore.
It’s too dark for running pics in the morning right now (which is definitely why I tripped on a stupid rock on Saturday), but I took this sweet sweet photo in the bathroom before my run Tuesday. This is my favorite summer morning running shirt. My mom got it for me for my birthday 🙂
Wednesday 9/18: 75 min Peloton ride & I got to go ride (a horse, not a bike lol).
Thursday 9/19: 60 min Peloton ride & I went horseback riding again.
Friday 9/20: 60 min Peloton ride
Saturday 9/21: 4 miles easy at 9:07 – I did a test run to make sure I was feeling ok and up to 18 miles.
Sunday 9/22: 18 mile long run, final 6 gradually cutting down. Actual 8:33/8:12/8:00/7:42/7:31/7:20. I felt awesome throughout the run and didn’t even really remember rolling my ankle by the end because it was such a tiny blip.
35 mile week – not bad for only 4 runs haha!
