Ok – if you live in Florida, have lived in Florida, have visited Florida, or you know someone that has visited Florida, you already know it’s humid. Supposedly, humidity is the poor man’s altitude. I’m not sure that’s true. But OMG it was exponentially harder running for 18 miles at 9:30 pace on a flat road, that it was running at 10k feet up a mountain with 5k of elevation gain. More on that later.
Here is how the week looked.
Monday 9/30: 8.01 miles easy at 9:32 avg & weights
Tuesday 10/1: 8.01 miles easy at 9:42
Wednesday 10/2: 2 mile warm up, fartlek ladder of 10-7-5-3-1 (mins w/ 2 mins easy in between). Start at HM effort & work down, 2 mile cool down. Actual paces 7:16/6:59/6:38/6:34/5:49. Total of 10.01 miles at 8:52 average.
Thursday 10/3: 8.03 miles easy at 9:23 avg
Friday 10/4: Off – we flew to Florida.
Saturday 10/5: 20 – 18 “easy” at 9:25. As mentioned above, I struggled, but stayed positive and ran really well given the circumstances.
Sunday 10/6: 8 miles easy at 9:39. Then we went to Harry Potter world!!!
60 miles for the week
