Hello! It is has been a little while. As I mentioned in my CIM recap, I felt pretty exhausted and burned out after that race. So I’ve been taking some time to rest & recharge.
Someone on Instagram asked how my “injury” was going – but I wasn’t injured. Sometimes you just need to give yourself a break. Often times feeling burnt out is your body’s way of telling you an injury could be imminent if you don’t take some time to rest.
I didn’t completely stop running, but I did prioritize other things over running, took a break from taking GoPro pictures and posting a lot about running, and let myself do less of “the little things” that you can’t skip out on when you are training hard.
It was a good time for it too – because a lot of exciting things have been happening! John & I got engaged, and we’ve been spending lots of time thinking about a venue and the where/when/what/who that goes into that.
Bennie took his first snow trip right before Christmas! It was SO cute to watch him pounce around in big fluffy piles of snow. And he loved coming to the bar for aprés ski with us. I didn’t ski that trip because I was really busy with work and arranging transport for our new addition to the family…
Bruce!! Bruce (aka Like A Boss), is my new horse. I love him SO much already. He arrived December 30th from Arizona. He is 17.1 hands tall, a quarter horse, and just the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. I am not keeping him in training and doing the show horse thing like I have done for so many years. Rather, I am keeping him at a barn about 20-30 mins from our house, doing all the training/riding myself, and just enjoying him. Maybe one day I’ll do a show here or there, but for right now he is just getting to be a pet. I think he quite likes it so far 🙂
I am starting to feel a bit more like my “running self” again. I am wanting to work out and lift weights and run and eat more nutrient dense foods. I still don’t feel like my speed has quite come back. I haven’t signed up for any races just yet. I want to wait until I feel a little more inspired to work hard and to hurt for my goal in the race itself.
What have you all been up to? Tell me your latest!
